We initiated and purchased 1000 HIV testing kits for the Brazilian aid organization operating a clinic in Ambovombe. This allowed us to obtain the data needed to provide an overview of the number of women who are carriers and/or suffering symptoms, encourage precautionary measures and use contraception. Persuasion efforts are necessary as many women/men in the area prefer ignorance over knowledge of their illness, making containment of the disease very challenging.
