Women’s Shelter

A Life-Saving Project: Support the First Women’s Shelter in Southern Madagascar

In January 2025, we opened the shelter and were inundated with many emotional applications from victims of rape and sexual violence. Your help is needed for the success of the project. Donate now

🚨 The First Women’s Shelter for Victims of Violence and Forced Child Marriage in Madagascar – Now Open! 🚨

For the first time, women and girls who have survived sexual violence, rape, abuse, and forced child marriage have a safe, warm, and protected place!

💔 The Situation Until Now – A Complete Lack of Protection

Until recently, women and girls suffering from violence, rape, and forced child marriage had nowhere to escape to. The state-run center does accept complaints, but:

⚠ There is no shelter for girls forced into marriage at a young age.

⚠ There is no psychological support or long-term rehabilitation.

⚠ There is no presence at night or on weekends, when women need protection the most.

⚠ There is no security or legal assistance to help them break free from the cycle of violence and forced marriage.

Many women and girls choose not to report their abuse at all – out of fear, lack of trust in the system, and the knowledge that they have nowhere safe to go if they escape.

🌟 But Now – The Reality is Changing!

Thanks to generous donors, we have established the first-ever women’s shelter for victims of violence and forced child marriage in Madagascar!

💙 A safe place providing a warm bed, food, medical care, and emotional and legal support.

💙 A rehabilitation program that helps women not only survive but rebuild their lives.

💙 A temporary home for mothers and their children – because many of them flee violence with their children, with no support at all.

💙 A refuge for young girls forced into early marriage – giving them a chance to escape a future of oppression and hardship.

🔴 The Harsh Reality – Stories from the Shelter 🔴

Since opening, we have already welcomed women and girls who were in life-threatening situations.

One of them is an 11-year-old girl who was raped, and just hours later, a 14-year-old orphan arrived at the shelter. She had given birth via C-section two weeks earlier – after being raped.

Another young girl, only 13 years old, was forced into marriage with a much older man. She suffered daily abuse but had no way to escape—until now.

In Madagascar, more than 30% of girls are married before the age of 18, stripping them of their childhood, their education, and their future.

🔹 Many of them are forced into marriage by their own families due to extreme poverty.

🔹 Others become pregnant from rape and are then forced to marry their abuser.

🔹 Some are treated as property, sold off in exchange for food or financial stability.

These girls deserve a different future, and we are here to fight for them!

🎯 Your Donations Are Essential to Keep the Shelter Running!

The shelter cannot continue to exist without financial support.

Every day we stay open saves lives and gives girls a chance at freedom.

But there are heavy expenses for food, medical supplies, psychological support, security, water, electricity, and other essential resources.

We need you with us to ensure that this shelter does not close!

💙 Your donation will provide a safe refuge for women and girls escaping violence and forced marriage.

💙 Your donation will allow us to continue operating, providing medical care and sheltering new arrivals.

💙 Your donation is the only hope for girls who have nowhere else to go.

⏳ Don’t wait – women and girls need us now!

🔹 Donate today and be part of saving lives!

💙 With your help, this shelter will remain open and continue protecting women and girls in danger.
