Teratany Software House and Technology Campus

The software house (NGO) in Ambovombe city in southern Madagascar will serve clients abroad and in Madagascar with high professionalism and service at competitive prices while maintaining excellent profitability. The software house will operate within all legal frameworks to ensure full compliance, be part of the local community, be attentive to its needs, support it, and be sensitive to its culture and traditions.

Profits from this initiative will be used to directly support community projects.

Background

Currently, the local economy in southern Madagascar is mainly circular, primarily consisting of traders selling goods to each other. The unemployment rate is high, and the standard of living, food, and health security are low.

However, there is high motivation among young people to learn English and technological professions and to bridge the digital divide, in the hope of improving both their own and their community’s future.

Our Goal

Teratany aims to unlock this circular economy and provide employment and income to increasing numbers of local residents by generating foreign currency income through software development and maintenance services for high-tech companies abroad. Teratany’s purchasing power in the local market, its investment in the community, and employee’s salaries will create a chain reaction in the local economy and help promote growth, raising living standards across the community.

Funding

For this project, IRC Africa, a registered non-profit organization in the USA (501(c)(3)), will raise donations and transfer funding in a controlled, legal, and orderly manner. A local NGO will be established to conduct ongoing activities in Madagascar.

The funding will come via grants and donations from governmental/private foundations, aid organizations, and private individuals—entities that value the software house’s community/social aspect, not just its bottom line.

Initiation

At the beginning of its journey, Teratany will receive professional and managerial support from external sources, mostly voluntarily, who can provide the necessary knowledge and experience to succeed in the professional and business field and employee training. Additionally, managerial and professional skills will help Teratany develop work processes and improve its professional and business performance.

Business Activity

Teratany will provide innovative technological solutions to local organizations, including municipalities and schools, so that we may promote the integration of artificial intelligence and creative strategies in these fields. This will allow the local government to see Teratany as a technological and strategic partner in developing customized solutions for needs and challenges of all kinds. One of Teratany’s goals is to help local government and the education system make focused and safe investment decisions in these areas to meet the local community’s needs.

Our range of activities will include the development of technologies for database management, computing, and medical systems. These management technologies will offer numerous benefits, including the ability to improve medical treatment and continuity of care. The software house will also develop and implement technologies to support local farmers and improve crops and sustainability.

Technological Education and Training

After Teratany is up and running, it will work to establish a technology campus alongside English, programming, mathematics, creative thinking, and improving the Malagasy mother tongue. Students from high school age onwards will have the opportunity to learn, but the software house will also be an employment horizon for them.

Financial benefits will be offered to girls joining the studies to reduce family pressure. This pressure is often accompanied by violence, forcing them to marry and give birth at a young age (15-16) before acquiring an education and a profession. The goal is to allow girls and their families to escape the cycle of poverty.

Establishing a programming training campus and promoting general education will be an essential step in advancing the area’s economic and technological growth, creating new job sources, developing a new community of software developers and entrepreneurs, and improving the local community and area’s situation.

Compliance with the Law

Teratany will operate with complete transparency and strictly adhere to all local and international laws and regulations to prevent corruption and money laundering without exception.

Equal Opportunities, Diversity, and Inclusion

Teratany will employ workers regardless of gender, religion, race, tribe, or social status. Employee diversity within the software house can help the entire society, reducing social gaps and improving the economy. A diverse group of employees allows everyone to develop and grow according to their competence and ability, regardless of their social and economic identity. This enables equitable economic and social growth and encourages the entire society to develop and grow together.

Teratany will ensure gender equality and provide conditions and a work environment that allows pregnant and breastfeeding women to work. Employing women will enable them to earn a decent salary, improve their family’s conditions and quality of life, and encourage their family members to acquire an education.

Personal Development

Employees will be allocated weekly time for personal development and initiatives, including training and tools that will contribute to their motivation and ability to take on more significant responsibility and act with initiative and innovation outside their daily toolbox.

Community Connection

Teratany will maintain continuous contact with the local community and be attentive to its needs. Portions of its profits will be used to initiate and fund various local projects to improve the community’s situation.

The software house will disseminate information about the projects’ activities and funding and receive feedback from the community regarding the projects’ results and impact on the local situation.

The software house will help local entrepreneurs start technology companies and other startups, helping them to develop and grow, and attract investment funds from outside the area. This will create new economic growth and introduce additional financial sources for the local economy, while at the same time generating additional employment sources.

Respect for Culture and Tradition

Long-term Goals

– Employing 80 local workers in various roles within three years.

– Transferring managerial and professional support roles to local candidates and providing the necessary professional training and tools before the transfer to ensure a professional, efficient, and reliable performance of their duties.

– After Teratany’s successful establishment, it will launch further branches in additional locations across Madagascar.

Summary

The software house’s activities will contribute to the region’s economic, social, health, educational, and technological growth, creating a more promising future for the population and the local economy.

The amount of donations required to establish this project is $30,000

Teratany’s activities will be carried out while respecting local traditions and culture.
