In January 2025, IRC Africa Inc. and TERATANY opened Ny Trano Manga (The Blue House) in Ambovombe, the first shelter in Madagascar to provide 24/7 protection for women and girls seeking safety from violence, together with their children.

What Your Gift Supports

  • Protection

    Ny Trano Manga provides 24/7 shelter and support guided by safety, confidentiality, informed choice, and each person’s circumstances.

    This includes age-appropriate, nonjudgmental support for girls and young women facing an unintended pregnancy, including help connecting them with appropriate health, protection, and social services.

  • Economic Independence

    IRC Africa Inc. and TERATANY have designed employment, entrepreneurship, and technology pathways for mothers and young women across the region. Resources are now needed to launch these programs.

    Fairly paid work strengthens women’s independence, supports children and extended families, and reduces economic dependence that may increase vulnerability to exploitation and harm.

  • Local Leadership

    TERATANY’s local team leads daily operations, supports women and families, conducts violence-prevention and community outreach activities, and helps women understand and exercise their rights.
